SHORT STORY: I'm a freelance lifestyle reporter based in Phoenix, Arizona. I’ve been in the journalism game for a solid decade now, and have been freelancing almost that entire time.
LONG STORY: Within a month of graduating with my journalism degree at the height of the 2008 recession, I was fortunate to land a job at a small newspaper in Indianapolis. But, after covering silly stories about local tree thieves and tiny town pageants, I found myself longing to do more. Within a year, I was living in South Korea teaching English as a second language while nurturing a freelance writing career on the side. By the time I found myself back stateside a year later, I was ready to plunge into freelance. I like to say I was a freelancer before freelancing was cool — when people would give me a skeptical side eye and say, "OK..."
Anyway, here we are all these years later and I am so glad to have taken this path. I am deeply passionate about what I do, and I wake up excited every day to dive into my work.
In addition to lifestyle reporting, I work with brands to create branded content for their websites, blogs, social media, and email.
